Action Learning Sets (ALS)

What is Action Learning Sets?

 

 

It is a continuous process of learning and reflection where you work on real challenges using the knowledge and skills of a small group combined with the skills of questioning. ISC have found it to be a powerful tool where you are going through an issue at work which you cannot discuss with immediate colleagues. Instead ALS gives you a safe place to discuss the issue and empower you with the tools to make a difference in your situation.

 

Maureen has facilitated a diverse group set which have included;

Senior Leaders

All Women groups

Professionals (both male and female)

Women who have suffered domestic violence

Black Minority Ethnic Group on equality issues

 

 

The Process of Action Learning offers you;

space for individual reflection

gives you ideas to work differently in this economic downturn

support and challenge from peers

the chance to work smarter and to find creative ways to bring change

 

Commitment to the group

The group must regularly come together for an agreed period of time to achieve results. This could span between 4 -5 sessions to longer sessions depending on the need.

Virtual Action Learning

 

Virtual Action Learning (VAL) offers the same benefits as face to face action learning whilst reducing cost and environmental impact. Research has shown that VAL sharpens listening skills, allow you to reflect more deeply as well as well as an opportunity to gain new skills.

 

How Does Virtual Action Learning Work: It operates in the same way as face to face ALS.

An international telephone conference facility is used to facilitate our discussions globally and our customers have included USA, and the UK. ( This is not a new name for telephone conferencing with a new name. Inner Strength Facilitators are trained using a distinct process and guidelines.

Inner Strength facilitators are qualified in Action Learning. Their main aim is to guide you through the learning process as well as the list below;

creates a safe place for the group to open up

takes the set beyond superficial analysis

Helps to draw on learning

Enables the set to reflect on group process
